Are Baby Yoda and Yoda related or the same person?

The Child also is known as Baby Yoda, is the newest sensation to hit the airwaves. Everyone was talking about this cutest and most adorable Baby Yoda in The Mandalorian's season 1 at Disney+ originally introduced as The Child.

Many people are intrigued by this tiny but force to reckon with and its origin. Is he related or the same person as the Jedi Grand Master, Yoda, we love and adore in the original Star Wars trilogy.

It's not remote to think of any possibilities surrounding them since they do look so much alike, but it seems there are more surprises ahead.

The Mandalorian is set 5 years after Yoda's death, and that makes Baby Yoda a new character.

It's safe to say that Baby Yoda and Master Yoda are not the same people, although they do belong to the same Force-gifted species. We know this because The Mandalorian takes place after the original trilogy of films like A New Hope, The Empire Strikes Back, and Return of the Jedi and before its new trilogies such as The Force Awakens, The Last Jedi, and The Rise of Skywalker. Master Yoda died in Return of the Jedi, and it doesn't match them being the same entities.

It should also be remembered by the Star Wars fanatics that Yoda not only died but also disappeared suddenly in the original trilogy. Yoda master now is in existence as a Force Ghost.

Can Baby Yoda be Yoda?

No, Baby Yoda cannot be Yoda since the timeline of the series took place after Return of the Jedi, wherein Master Yoda died and suddenly disappeared. He is now considered to be the Force Ghost.

They are not the same character at all, but it earned its moniker Baby Yoda after it appeared in the series as The Child. He became Baby Yoda since it doesn't have a proper name, and it's the easiest and most relatable name because of its strong resemblance to Yoda.

Why Baby Yoda is not Yoda?

In the second installment of the first trilogy in Empire Strikes Back, Yoda is then around 900 years old. He's the same age when he died in The Return of the Jedi after training Luke and wherein there was a scene where he appeared to Luke Skywalker as a Force Ghost.

On the other hand, The Mandalorian's timeline is around 9 ABY or After the Battle of Yavin. So, Baby Yoda isn't Yoda because Yoda died in 4 ABY, even before the Mandalorian time.

After Thoughts

The Yoda species, whether Yoda the Master or Baby Yoda, are two of the most endearing and popular characters in the Star Wars saga. Although they are not one or the same person, they are both undeniably marked in the hearts of galaxy loving people, and they created an impact that could never be forgotten as the force may be with you!

Let this spectacular saga continue with more exciting things to come.
